Aromatherapy - Aromatherapy is the holistic art of using essential oils to treat conditions of disharmony and imbalance. Aromatherapy treatments last approximately 1 hour
Advanced Massage - Acupressure and Neuromuscular Techniques which can be used in conjunction with Aromatherapy and Swedish Massage techniques to give a deeper, more therapeutic massage. Acupressure is a Japanese technique which relies on the Yin Yang principles of Oriental Medicine. The body is a network of energy channels called meridians. The quality of the energy at certain points along these meridians can affect our physical, mental and emotional health. To achieve optimum health, Yin and Yang should be in balance. An imbalance of Yin and Yang leads to illness. Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) is a technique which is particularly effective in dealing with persistently tense muscles and chronic muscular pain. It is designed to reset the 'neuromuscular dialogue'. Sessions last approximately 1 hour
Holistic Facial - A relaxing and energising treatment in which the skin is deeply cleansed then massaged with pure aromatherapy oils chosen specifically for your skin type. The technique uses gentle and precise manipulation on the connective tissue and muscles of the face, neck, shoulders and scalp. The connective tissue regains its elasticity and tension is released from the facial muscles. This treatment helps release toxins, stress and tension, bringing about deep relaxation and a complete feeling of well-being. A typical Holistic facial will take approximately 45 - 1 hour
Indian Head Massage - This massage of the head, neck, face, upper back and arms will leave you feeling deeply relaxed and balanced as the massage works to relieve muscle tension, relax tired eye muscles, re-balance the flow of energy within the body and trigger the release of endorphins within the brain. This massage form can be carried out in as little as 15 minutes and still be very beneficial but a full treatment takes about 45 minutes – 1 hour.
Reflexology - The ancient art of reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive treatment. It is based on the theory that there are reflex points in the feet, hands and ears that correspond to every part of the body. When these reflex points are manipulated they trigger the body’s natural healing processes via a system of energy pathways, encouraging the body to gently correct, strengthen and reinforce itself. Reflexology treatments last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, but treats and tasters can be done within 15-20 minutes.
Hopi Ear Candling (thermo-auricular therapy) - Different from wax candles, a Hopi ear candle has no wick, and is actually a cotton or linen based tube. It is impregnated with natural ingredients and therapeutic oils like beeswax, honey chamomile, sage, beta-carotene and St Johns Wort. The healing properties of the Hopi Ear Candle has its foundation in two primary physical actions. Firstly, the slight under pressure (the chimney effect) inside the Ear Candle and the vibration of the rising air column serve to gently massage the ear drum and promote secretion in the frontal and paranasal sinuses. This has an immediate subjective effect of regulating and balancing ear pressure. Users often describe a soothing, light sensation in the ear and head area. Secondly, the locally applied warmth stimulates vascularisation, invigorates the immune system and reinforces the flow of lymph. At the same time, important acupuncture points and reflex zones are stimulated. The candle is gently inserted into the ear, it then generates a pleasant crackling sound and a warm, comfortable feeling while it draws out the impurities from the ear, which are then collected in a filter at the base of the candle. Each candle burns between 10 and 12 minutes dependent on the individual; both ears should always be treated. This is followed by a period of relaxation, and a facial massage concentrating on the sinus areas.
Ear candles are soothing, helpful and excellent in promoting changes in conditions like:
- Tinnitus
- Snoring
- Hayfever
- Glue Ear
- Vertigo
- Pain or pressure after flying or scuba diving, swimming or underground travel,
- Hearing Problems
- Sinusitis/Sinus Problems
- Dental Pain/Jaw pain
- Rhinitis
- Sinusitis
- Menieres Disease
Treatments last between 45 minutes - 1 hour.
Stress Management - Stress management encompasses techniques intended to equip a person with effective coping mechanisms for dealing with psychological stress.
Stress is defined as a person's physiological response to an internal or external stimulus that triggers the fight-or-flight response. In general, stress is related to both external and internal factors. External factors include your physical environment, your job, relationships with others, your home, and all the situations, challenges, difficulties, and expectations you're confronted with on a daily basis. Internal factors determine your body's ability to respond to, and deal with, the external stress-inducing factors. Internal factors which influence your ability to handle stress include your nutritional status, overall health and fitness levels, emotional well-being, and the amount of sleep and rest you get.
For many people, stress is part of life, however it's how a person reacts to the stressors in life which will then determine whether they cope with stress in a positive or negative manner.
Managing stress, therefore, can involve making changes in the external factors which confront you or with internal factors which strengthen your ability to deal with what comes your way. Stress management is effective when a person utilises strategies to cope with or alter stressful situations. Various techniques are used such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Meditation, Breathing Exercises, Relaxation Techniques as well as looking at diet and exercise, lifestyle, sleeping patterns etc. However, perception and source of stress will be diffrerent with each person, so sessions are catered to meet the needs of each individual. Sessions last 1 hour are are most effective in a block of 6 sessions, however results can also be achieved in 4 sessions.
